Zambian Institute of Agriculture

The Zambian Institute of Agriculture (ZIA) is an independent training, research, and empowerment institution. Registered in 2007 under the Registrar of Companies (registration no. 133363), ZIA operates as a non‑funded charitable organisation.

ZIA’s primary objective is to mobilize and equip local leaders with sustainable, modern farming systems. Over the years, the institute has developed and implemented a variety of approaches and projects aimed at strengthening agricultural practices within communities. ZIA also places a strong emphasis on empowering women involved in poultry farming, vegetable gardening, small‑scale enterprises, and village savings groups. In addition, the organization is the founder of a girls’ soccer program based in Ndola, further demonstrating its commitment to community development.

Across its diverse initiatives, ZIA remains dedicated to training and empowering underprivileged individuals, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods.

Established in 2017, the ZIA School recruits young and motivated students, with particular attention given to those who have had limited or no access to formal education and who seek a meaningful professional future. The school’s mission is to train and empower these individuals to become farmers, agricultural advisors, and agricultural professionals—a comprehensive “three‑in‑one” development model.
